INDONESIAN Sony Dwi Kuncoro, who is all fired up to take over the mantle from his more illustrious teammate Taufik Hidayat, made it a memorable 62nd National Day for his country at the World Championships in Putra Stadium yesterday.
The 24-year-old Sony played superb badminton to beat the more fancied Peter Gade-Christensen of Denmark 22-20, 21-18 in the men's singles to reach his first semi-finals in a world meet.
