DETROIT: PGA Tour rookie Michael Putnam birdied his last two holes to finish first in 36-hole international final qualifying for the British Open in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan on Monday.
The 24-year-old American carded rounds of 69 and 67 at Oakland Hills for a four-under total of 136, two strokes better than compatriot Ryan Moore and Australian John Senden.
