Ahmad Fuad smashes lap record in qualifying


JAKARTA: Malaysia’s Ahmad Fuad Baharudin made a perfect start to the season in the Petronas Sprinta FIM Asian Grand Prix by smashing the lap record during the first qualifying session at the Sentul International Circuit here yesterday. 

The 28-year-old Team Petronas Sprinta Yamaha Malaysia rider clocked 1:33.759 in the Supersport 600cc category in the third lap on the 3.964km circuit to eclipse five-time champion Toshiyuki Hamaguchi’s 1:33.799 mark set in 2004.
