National club futsal league to kick off in June


PETALING JAYA: The inaugural FA of Malaysia-Figos national club futsal league will take off in June. 

The FAM general secretary, Datuk Seri Dr Ibrahim Saad, said that the championship for clubs would be another good avenue to further promote the game and also to unearth talent for the national team.

“We welcome the support of Figos to come forward and organise this event, the first of its kind, throughout the country,” said Ibrahim at the launching ceremony at Wisma FAM in Kelana Jaya yesterday. 

Figos Sdn Bhd managing director Tang Kok Wai said that registered clubs, among them corporate companies, associations and sports clubs, were eligible to compete in the championships, which would have competitions for men and women. 

He added that the state champions would advance to the Grand Finals in Kuala Lumpur in late June.
