Shun Thing-Teck Eng clinch crown in Thai meet

PETALING JAYA: National spikers Beh Shun Thing and Luk Teck Eng emerged champions in the Nakhon Si Thammarat international women’s beach volleyball tournament held in Thailand. 

The Malaysian duo defeated the Thai national junior pair 21-15, 21-18 in the final yesterday.  

They had earlier beaten the Philippines 21-15, 15-21, 15-7 in the semi-finals.  

Shun Thing and Teck Eng took home the 40,000 baht (RM4,000) prize money while the runners-up won 30,000 baht.

The other Malaysian pair of M. Iswari and Yeah Mei Yan failed to advance from the group stage. 

The two Malaysian pairs will be competing in two more tournaments in Thailand – the Asian International Invitational Championship in Patthalong (April 9-11) and the Asian Beach Volleyball Tour in Songkhla (April 14-16).
