ROME: Rome police chief Achille Serra (pic) yesterday blamed drunken Manchester United fans for the violence seen during this week’s Champions League tie at Rome’s Olympic Stadium.
Commenting on a seven-minute video of the incidents shown during a press conference in Rome, Serra said the police only intervened after “about 200 drunken English fans” assailed the stadium’s stewards and threatened to invade a sector occupied by AS Roma fans.
