Greece bans football fan clubs to curb violence


ATHENS: Greece has suspended the operation of hundreds of fan clubs associated with football teams in an effort to crack down on hooligans using them as cover. 

The day after dozens of raids on supporters clubs revealed an arsenal of weapons following the death of a fan during clashes last week, the sports minister said the face of Greek football was about to change for good.
