KUALA LUMPUR: More than 200 students aged below 12 attended the first of the nationwide Danone Nations Cup football selections trials at the Sports Excellence Centre in Cheras on Sunday.
A total of 16 trials, each open to a maximum of 250 students, will be held over the next two months.
Only 14 players will be selected from each selection trial to form a team to compete in the national Finals from May 25-27. The winners will represent Malaysia in the World Finals in Lyon in June.
The World Finals, which count former French World Cup star Zinedine Zidane as their global ambassador, have been staged annually since 2000. Last year, Kedah represented Malaysia.
