PETALING JAYA: National men’s back-up shuttler Liew Daren stole the show on the opening day of the US$80,000 German Open when he pulled off his first upset in an international tournament at Mulheim yesterday.
The 20-year-old Liew, who is a member of Rashid Sidek’s Project 2010-12, knocked out joint 9th-16th seed Andrew Dabeka of Canada 22-20, 21-23, 21-17.
