Sharapova hopes for quick pick-up

TOP seed Maria Sharapova will hope to have her batteries fully recharged following a draining first-round victory when she faces Anastassia Rodionova in the second round of the Australian Open today.

The world number two needed extensive treatment after her three-hour epic against France’s Camille Pin on Tuesday when she won through 9-7 in the third set after being two points away from defeat in searing 39°C heat.
