PETALING JAYA: Waterfall Rangers of Penang have been suspended for two years for their withdrawal from the FAM Cup competition this year.
The competition committee, headed by Datuk Raja Ahmad Zainuddin Raja Omar, meted out the punishment on the Penang club at the Wisma FAM in Kelana Jaya on Wednesday.
Under the suspension, Rangers cannot compete in tournaments sanctioned by the FAM.
Raja Ahmad said that the withdrawal of Rangers left 10 teams in the competition scheduled for kick off on Jan 28.
The teams in the fray are KL City Hall, Maju United, Sukses FC, Proton FC, Felda United, Beverly Football Club Sabah, Kuala Terengganu District Office, RAMD, Tambun Tualang Perlis and Muar Municipal Council.
