“I spent a lot of time with the children and I think I know them by name,” said the world number one. “Kids are the future and so I tried to inspire them.”

Federer, who refused to speak about tennis during a brief interaction with the media, said he was thrilled to make his maiden trip to the country.

“I told the children that I shall always be there for them. This is my first trip to India and it has been great,” said Federer. – AFP
