CUDDALORE (India): Roger Federer on Friday met children whose lives were affected by the devastating tsunami two years ago.
Federer, 25, a Goodwill Ambassador of UNICEF (the United Nations Children's Fund) visited a child-care centre and a middle school in the southern Indian town of Cuddalore.
I spent a lot of time with the children and I think I know them by name, said the world number one. Kids are the future and so I tried to inspire them.
Federer, who refused to speak about tennis during a brief interaction with the media, said he was thrilled to make his maiden trip to the country.
I told the children that I shall always be there for them. This is my first trip to India and it has been great, said Federer. AFP
