Segamat seal top spot in overall standings

PETALING JAYA: Segamat Rimba Timor confirmed their place as the top seeds for the Grand Finals of the National Basketball League (NBL) after beating Klang WCT Land 79-62 in the fourth leg of the men's competition held at Pokok Assam Indoor Stadium in Taiping last night. 

Segamat won five out of their six matches to top the round-robin competition on 11 points. 

For Klang WCT Land, their fifth defeat consigned them to the bottom of the four-team competition. 

Segamat's only loss came at the hands of Malacca Chinwoo (64-76) on their own turf in the second leg held at Segamat Indoor Stadium on Oct 7. 

Last night, the ever reliable K. Satyaseelan (pic), the national team captain, top scored for Segamat with 14 points. 

In the second match last night, Malacca Chinwoo bounced back from Saturday's defeat by Segamat to beat YSL Sports Station 90-61 and finish second in the overall standings on nine points. 

In the Grand Finals, which will be held at Maba Stadium in Kuala Lumpur this weekend, will see Segamat Rimba Timor taking on Klang WCT Land and YSL Sports Station meeting Malacca to decide the two finalists. 

Segamat Rimba Timor women's team have already qualified for the final, which will be held at the same venue this weekend. 

They will face the winner of the match between KL Ruby and Malacca Chinwoo.
