KUALA LUMPUR: The haze here has forced the friendly hockey series between the national team and the Australian Sports Institute (AIS) to be shifted from the National Hockey Stadium in Bukit Jalil to Municipal Hockey Council Stadium in Sungai Petani.
Initially, five matches were scheduled to be played in Bukit Jalil.
With the change of venue, there will be one match fewer and they will be played on Oct 11, 12, 14 and 15.
All the matches will start at 5pm.
The Malaysian Hockey Federation (MHF) secretary general, T. Paramalingam, said on Mondayy that they had no choice but to shift the venue because the haze situation had not improved.
“We wanted to have the matches in Kuantan but we have received reports that it was hazy there also,” he said.
The national team left for Sungai Petani last night.
Paramalingam added that the AIS team, who arrived Sunday night, would leave for Sungai Petani Tuesday morning.
The friendly matches are part of the national team's preparation for the Doha Asian Games in December.
