PETALING JAYA: National players Safuan Said of Perak and Emma Firyana Saroji of Police emerged tops in the National Indoor Bowls singles Under-25 championships held at the Bayuemas Indoor Bowls Stadium in Pandamaran, Klang yesterday (Sept 22).
Safuan, the silver medallist at the World Cup Indoor singles championships in Sydney last year, defeated Adil Faidhi of Perak 7-5, 10-0 in the men's final while Emma also won in straight sets 8-4, 7-3, defeating Sarawak's Nurul Jumaniza in the women's singles final.
The two winners qualified for the Lion City Cup Under-25 championships in Singapore (Jan 2-8) and the World Junior Cup in Hong Kong (May 7-12).
Meanwhile, the Malaysia Lawn Bowls Federation have selected 27 schools throughout the country under their adoption programme to promote lawn bowls. Each school will receive two sets of playing equipment each.
