IPOH: Steve Darby is asking the Perak fans to come out in droves to fill the 35,000-capacity Perak Stadium on Saturday.

Perak host Penang at the stadium in the Malaysia Cup first leg quarter-finals.

Darby believes fan power is important for Perak and attributed their unbeaten run in the preliminary rounds to the fans’ vociferous support.

“It was certainly their wonderful support which helped us through to the quarter-finals on a clean slate.

“I am hoping that fan power will help us take a good lead before the return leg at the Batu Kawan Stadium next weekend,” Darby stressed.

In their three meetings in this season’s Super League, Perak only won once.

They beat Penang 3-1 at home in the third round.

Perak tasted defeat in the first (3-1) and second rounds (3-2).

“The important thing is that we are playing at home in the first-leg and we should take advantage of it for a comfortable lead.”

To lure the fans to the stadium on Saturday, Darby is trying to set up some sort of an entertainment like a band or cheerleading performance during halftime.
