Iraqi coach Salman resigns after death threats


BAGHDAD: Iraq’s national soccer coach has resigned after receiving death threats against him and his family, a top sporting official said on Saturday. It was the latest in a series of threats, kidnappings, and killings of Iraqi sports officials. 

Coach Akram Ahmed Salman submitted his resignation on Friday to the secretary general of the Iraqi Football Federation, Ahmed Abbas, and left the capital, Abbas said.
