Villa players want meeting with chairman over club’s no-ambition issue

LONDON: Aston Villa’s players have demanded a meeting with chairman Doug Ellis in an attempt to end the controversy surrounding their apparent criticism of the English Premiership club’s lack of ambition.

A strongly-worded statement, which was said to have the backing of Villa’s entire first-team squad, was released on Friday and contained claims that Ellis’s cost-cutting was stopping the club from progressing.
