KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia will once again host the Sultan Azlan Shah ACC Track Asia Cup at the Velodrome Rakyat in Ipoh, Perak after giving it a miss last year due restoration work on the velodrome's track.
To date, nine countries besides Malaysia have confirmed their participation in the championship, which will be held from July 7 to 9.
The countries are Japan, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Thailand, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Philippines.
“The Asia Cup will be held at the newly-laid 250-metre timber track at Velodrome Rakyat. With the track restored now, Perak will host track events at regular intervals including Sports Excel and MNCF (Malaysia National Cycling Federation) track events,” said the Cup's organising committee secretary, Amarjit Singh Gill.
Amarjit Singh is also the vice president of the Perak Cycling Association and a commissaire of the Internationl Cycling Union (UCI).
