Sabah not putting pressure on athletes

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah do not want to put pressure on their athletes by setting a medal target for the 11th Malaysia Games (Sukma) beginning in Kedah on Wednesday.

State Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun said the Sabah contingent placed more emphasis on the athletes’ performance rather than pressuring them to meet the medal target.

“Nevertheless, Sabah will surely go for more than 21 gold medals that we won in the 2004 Sukma in Negri Sembilan,” he told reporters after Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman handed the state flag to the contingent head Suzannah Liew yesterday. – Bernama
