Hearts glow in Scotland after beating Gretna in penalty shootout

GLASGOW: Hearts lifted the Scottish Cup with victory over the minnows of Gretna on Saturday but the Edinburgh side required penalty kicks to see off the brave Second Division champions.

Czech midfielder Rudi Skacel had given the Tynecastle team the lead just before the break but the team from the Scottish Borders – making history as the first team from the third tier of Scottish football to reach the Final – took the game beyond the regulation 90 minutes when Ryan McGuffie scored from the penalty spot.
