PARIS: World heptathlon champion Carolina Kluft of Sweden will compete in the long jump as well as the multi-event discipline in August's European Championships.
“I'll resume competition in Goetzis, Austria (on May 27-28), and then do some events up until the European Championships where I'll compete in the heptathlon and long jump,” said Kluft, in the French capital for Sunday's Paris Marathon.
Kluft, the reigning European heptathlon champion, said she felt well, after having sat out the indoor season – including the IAAF World Indoor Championships in Moscow – due to risk of injury.
The 23-year-old Swede is the uncontested queen of heptathlon. Besides holding the European crown, she has won two world crowns in 2003 and 2005 and was Olympic champion in 2004. – AFP
