IPOH: Anderson got lucky and snatched maximum points by edging Malacca High School (MHS) 1-0 in a Malaysian Junior Hockey League match at the Azlan Shah Stadium here yesterday.
Forward Shahrul Hafizi Samsuni blasted in the solitary goal which turned out to be winner with a brilliant solo effort in the 50th minute.
The nippy Shahrul had earlier collected a long pass from his defence after a failed penalty corner attempt by MHS. He dashed down the left flank and ran across to the top of the D before firing in.
However, Anderson chose to sit back and allowed MHS to mount numerous raids.
Fortunately, MHS failed to punish them as their own forwards, led by Mohd Khairul Mohd Noor, just could not finish.
Anderson goalkeeper Mohd Shafiq Sanusi was also commanding with some superb point blank saves to enable his school to chalk up their second straight win in four matches.
It was a hard earned win but I happy we bagged the three points, said coach Mokhtar Baharuddin Abdullah.
He added: We hope to continue our good run when we play SAS of Pahang on Sunday.
