GHENT (Belgium): Svetlana Cherkasova of Russia beat former Olympic and world champion Maria Mutola of Mozambique in the women’s 800m at the KBC Flanders Indoor Championships on Sunday.
Cherkasova clocked 2:00.75, edging Mutola by 0.06 seconds in a sprint finish. Irina Vashentseva of Russia was third in 2:01.73.
