Tiger in sizzling form but Els falls in Match Play first round

CARLSBAD (California): World number one Tiger Woods posted the most lopsided victory in the history of the Accenture Match Play Championship on Wednesday, a 9&8 rout of Stephen Ames.

Woods, motivated by an injudicious pre-tournament remark by his opponent, won every hole on the front nine before halving the 10th to complete the first-round triumph.
