Penang kicks off F1 roadshow

KUALA LUMPUR: A nationwide road show to promote the eighth edition of the Petronas Malaysian F1 Grand Prix will begin at the Gurney Plaza in Penang on Feb 3. 

The Sepang International Circuit (SIC) general manager, Datuk Ahmad Mustafa, said that in the three-day road show, they would have a Miss SIC beauty pageant contest, motor sports car street parade, ticket and merchandising booths and lucky draws. 

The Malaysian GP is the second leg of a 19-round World F1 Championships and will be held from in Sepang on March 17-19. 

Ahmad added yesterday that they hoped to attract 120,000 fans. 

He said that the other venues for the road show will be at the Berjaya Megamall in Kuantan (Feb 10-12), City Square, Johor Baru (Feb 17-19), Mahkota Parade, Malacca (Feb 24-26), Langkawi (Feb 24-26), KL Sentral (March 3-5), Bejaya Times Square, KL (March 3-5), Genting Highlands (March 8-12), One Utama, Petaling Jaya (March 8-12) and Bukit Bintang Plaza, KL (March 16-18).
