PUTRAJAYA: It is his first competition but it is well worth it for Zulkifli Abdul Aziz.

He went home with nearly RM100,000 worth of cash and prizes for his winning entry in the design of the national jersey competition.

Zulkilfli, who received his prizes from Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak here yesterday, said that he got his idea for the jersey from the national crest.

“I did not excel in sports but I thought as a contribution to the country, I conceptualised the jersey from the stripes of the two tigers,” he said.

“I submitted four concepts within one month and two weeks ago, I received a call to come and collect my prize but little did I know that I have won.”

He won RM10,000, a Proton Gen2 car, one Malaysia Airlines ticket to London and a four-day stay there, a home theatre set and a personal computer.

Second prize winner Leong Wai Hong won RM5,000 and personal computer while third placed Zainal Ikhwan Mahmud took home RM3,000 and a personal computer.
