MANILA: The Philippines will impose a stringent screening system for participants in the SEA Games as part of efforts to keep the country free from the deadly avian influenza virus, officials said yesterday.
More than 5,000 athletes and officials from 11 countries, some of which are facing an outbreak of the H5N1 virus, were expected to come to the Philippines for the biennial Games from Nov 27-Dec 5.
