LONDON: Bolton manager Sam Allardyce is confident that new signing Hidetoshi Nakata has the ability to succeed in the English Premier League.
Twice Asian Footballer of the Year, the Japan midfielder has been secured on a season-long loan from Italian side Fiorentina.
Theres a risk with anybody, but all the indicators are very good, said Allardyce at a media conference on Thursday.
The first thing you look for in a player is quality and hes got that in abundance.
Its a good place for him to come and challenge himself.
Hes going to be challenging himself to the ultimate of his ability and thats what he wanted.
Nakata, 28, said: The Premier League is one of the best leagues in the world and I think Im ready to play in England after seven years in Italy, which is very tough.
Allardyce plans to further strengthen his squad before the transfer window closes at the end of this month.
He said: You need a big squad for such a demanding schedule and Im keeping my fingers crossed that Ill be able to bring more players in before the end of the transfer window.
Bolton finished sixth last season. Reuters
