LONDON: Chelsea have stepped up security in the wake of last month's London bombings.
In the light of the current situation in London, the club does not want fans bringing rucksacks or any other large bags to Stamford Bridge on match days, a statement on the Premiership champion's website announced on Wednesday.
In other measures handbags will be searched and Chelsea staff are being given training to increase their vigilance and awareness.
Chelsea regards safety and security as paramount in importance and we would ask for the public's co-operation at this time, the statement added.
Bombings in London on July 7 left 56 people dead. Attempts to carry out repeat attacks in London on July 21 failed when all four bombs failed to detonate. AFP
