Legislation may be needed to halt New Zealand's tour to Zimbabwe: ICC

WELLINGTON, New Zealand (AP) - The New Zealand government would have to legislate to ban its national cricket team's tour to Zimbabwe next month to save the team from penalties if the tour is canceled, the International Cricket Council said Thursday.

ICC president Ehsan Mani moved to clarify an earlier statement that a "clear directive'' from government would be enough to halt the tour and to absolve New Zealand Cricket of penalties under the ICC's future tours regulations.
