RIO DE JANEIRO: Former Brazil player and coach Mario Zagallo will undergo stomach surgery today because of an intestinal obstruction, doctors said on Sunday.
Zagallo, 73, has been hospitalised at Hospital Samaritano in Rio de Janeiro since last Tuesday suffering from severe abdominal pain and vomiting. Doctors had been scrambling to pinpoint the cause of his problems, but exams on Sunday showed he has an intestinal obstruction, hospital spokeswoman Elisa Nunes said.
