DUBAI: Colin Montgomerie got off to a flying start in his bid to break back into the world top 50 and qualify for the Masters with a two-under-par 70 in the first round of the Dubai Desert Classic here yesterday.
Montgomerie slumped down the rankings last year amid a much-publicised divorce and subsequent form loss, but he made an encouraging start to the season both in Asia and the United States and entered Dubai ranked 63rd and rising.
