KUALA LUMPUR: After Johor Baru, the F1 carnival aimed at promoting the upcoming Formula One Malaysian Grand Prix, heads to Kuantan and Malacca with a special road racing demonstration this weekend.
“The roadshows will commence simultaneously at Berjaya Megamall, Kuantan and Mahkota Parade in Malacca starting from Friday to Sunday,” said Azhar Ghazali, Sepang International Circuit's (SIC) press officer, in a statement here yesterday.
At both venues, SIC will organise fun games where members of the public can win prizes including tickets to the Malaysian GP.
Sepang will host Round Two of the F1 World Championship from March 18-20. The new season will kick off in Melbourne with the Australian Grand Prix on March 6.
“The road demo in Kuantan will feature cars from the support races – Formula Malaysia machines and Porsche Carrera Cup Asia.
“The demo is not only aimed at promoting the event but also to generate interest among the grassroots so that more people can become active players in motorsports,” said Azhar.
Targeting 120,000 spectators, the SIC aim to woo at least 80,000 local fans with another 40,000 international tourists arrivals especially from Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, Hong Kong, India and from traditional key F1 markets in Europe like Britain, Finland and Germany. – Bernama
