Thongchai soldiers ahead as eagles lift Jyoti to second

PETALING JAYA: Former Thai soldier Thongchai Jaidee inched closer to his target of successfully defending a title for the first time in his career, taking a six-shot lead into the final day of US$1.21mil Carlsberg Malaysian Open at the Saujana Golf and Country Club.

Thongchai, who started the third round yesterday with a two-stroke advantage, stayed cool amidst the pressure and sweltering hot afternoon conditions to card a five-under 67.
