MHF to hold open forum for hockey blueprint

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Hockey Federation (MHF) will hold an open forum on Feb 20 to seek feedback and views for their hockey development blueprint, which is supposed to be finalised by March 31.

MHF secretary T. Paramalingam said the forum would be held at the National Hockey Stadium in Bukit Jalil.

“We have people working on the blueprint. But at the same time we realise that there are many out there, like former players and officials, who can also contribute to the blueprint by giving constructive suggestions,” said Paramalingam.

He said that those interested to voice their opinions could just drop by on that day, adding that the forum would begin at 10am.

The MHF are required to come out with a detailed blueprint to be submitted to the steering committee, which will oversee the development of the eight core sports that have been identified by the government for special funding.

The steering committee, which was set up by the Youth and Sports Ministry last month, is headed by Tan Sri Mohamed Noordin Hassan.

The other seven sports under this special category are badminton, bowling, gymnastics, aquatics, football, athletics and squash. All the sports are required to have their own blueprints.

Paramalingam said the main office bearers of MHF would be present during the forum to listen and take down notes from the participants.

“We hope that the response from the hockey lovers will be good. This is a good chance for them to be involved in our development plans,” he added.
