MELBOURNE: Torrential rain has threatened to wash out today’s opening round at the Heineken Classic after greens and fairways at Royal Melbourne were left submerged by downpours.
Solid rain overnight and throughout yesterday saw the pro-am event cancelled and with more rain forecast there was a distinct likelihood today’s opening round might not be played, forcing a doubling up over the remaining three days.
