KUALA LUMPUR: Former Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) president Tan Sri Elyas Omar has been appointed as the new Sports Commissioner, replacing Datuk Zabri Min.
The former Kuala Lumpur mayor is the third person to hold the post and the first from outside the Youth and Sports Ministry. The previous two to hold the post, Datuk Ahmad Bakri Shabdin and Zabri, were secretaries-general of the ministry.
