German government going ahead with image campaign

BERLIN: The German government is going ahead with plans for an image campaign for the country based around the 2006 World Cup despite opposition fears it could be used to boost the coalition's chances of winning elections later in the year.

Bernd Pfaffenbach, state secretary in the economics ministry, rejected claims of a link between the planned image campaign and national elections scheduled that year.
