Abdul Rahim takes over PHA top post

IPOH: Ipoh City Council legal affairs director Datuk Abdul Rahim Mat Ariff took over the president’s post of the Perak Hockey Association (PHA) at their biennial general meeting here recently. 

Rahim, who was the PHA deputy president since 2001, won the post uncontested.  

The post was left vacant by Raja Nazrin Shah, who went on to succeed his father, Sultan Azlan Shah, as president of the Malaysia Hockey Federation (MHF). 

Former international Mohd Abdul Hadi, who is the Krian District HA president, took the deputy president's post.  

He defeated Kuala Kangsar HA president Datuk Dr Gurdip Singh Maan. 

Businessmen Wilfred Pereira and Tahiruddin Ahmad retained their vice-presidents' post.  

The two new faces are Hilir Perak secretary Sallehuddin Mokhtar and international umpire Amarjit Singh. 

Lawyer Darshan Singh was appointed the PHA secretary for another term while Miaw Tong Hoi is the new treasurer. 

The committee members are N. Sakthivel (Ipoh), M. Kulasingam (Batang Padang), Khairuddin Haridi (Hilir Perak), Salinder Singh (Hulu Perak), Abdul Latiff Mat Saad (Krian), S. Subramaniam (Kinta), Mohd Hussaini Saad (Kuala Kangsar), Zakaria Yaacob (Larut Matang Selama), Nor Suhaimi Mohd Nor (Manjung) and State Education Director (MSSPK).
