Negri, Penang win first leg semi-final ties

SEREMBAN: A late goal by former international M. Elangoo gave Negri Sembilan a slim 2-1 win over Perlis in the Bardhan Cup first-leg semi-final match at the Raja Melewar Teachers Training College's Mini Stadium in Seremban yesterday. 

Perlis led through R. Manivarman's goal in the 26th minute before K. Sathian equalised for Negri in the 78th minute. But Elangoo, who plays for Super League's Public Bank, scored the winner two minutes later. 

The return match will be played at the Stadium Utama in Kangar on Sunday (kick off 4.30pm). 

In the other semi-final tie, Penang tok a comfortable 3-0 lead over Johor after the first-leg match at the Muar Stadium on Saturday. 

The goals were scored by V. Jeganathan (42nd), M. Nagaraja (48th) and Samuel Raj (62nd). The return match will be played at the City Stadium on Saturday (kick off 8.45pm).
