Anti-doping body out to crack down on recreational drug use

LONDON: Soccer players and other sportsmen could soon face mandatory two-year bans from their sports if they are caught using recreational drugs at any time, the head of the World Anti-Doping Agency said on Monday.

Dick Pound said WADA were prepared to look into amending their anti-doping code to include recreational drugs and to apply the most severe penalties for their use, whether in or out of competition.
