PHILLIP ISLAND: Valentino Rossi savoured his sweetest world title triumph in wresting a championship-clinching victory from rival Sete Gibernau in a fantastic last-lap duel to win the Australian MotoGP here yesterday.
The 25-year-old Italian, needing only to finish in the top two to claim his sixth world crown and fourth consecutive premier class title, discarded the softer option to engage Gibernau in a dogfight to clinch his eighth win of the year and 41st in 79 elite GPs.
