Malaysia aim to salvage some pride

PETALING JAYA: Malaysia are out the running for a place in the Asian Finals of the World Cup football qualifying tournament. 

But they will be out to salvage some pride by securing their first win in the Asian Group Four qualifiers against Hong Kong at the Mongkok Stadium tonight. 

Malaysia have been beaten by Hong Kong (1-3), Kuwait (0-2) and China (0-2, 0-1). They complete their fixtures against Kuwait on Nov 17. 

China lead the standings with 12 points followed by Kuwait (nine) and Hong Kong (three points). 

The remaining two matches are now part of the Malaysia’s preparations for the Asean Football Federation (AFF) Tiger Cup tournament in December.
