KUALA LUMPUR: Ernst and Young will face another tough side in the Malaysia Hockey League today. And they will go into the match against defending champions Tenaga Nasional at the KL Hockey Stadium without their top scorer, Mohamed Amin Rahim.
Amin has to serve a one-match suspension for having received eight demerit points.
He has been in good form from penalty corners and scored 16 goals in the first round matches. But against Maybank on Friday, Amin failed to score from two attempts and the team settled for a 2-2 draw.
Coach A. Arulselvaraj said: In the absence of Amin, we have no choice but to reshuffle the line-up.
Zulkifli Rejab will assume the role of our main penalty corner taker. Amin place in defence is likely to go to skipper Lee Sien Lam, who usually plays in the midfield.
Dhanraj Pillay will start in the forward line with Chua Boon Huat and Tengku Ahmad Tajuddin while Azli Misron, who is also a forward, will take over at midfield from Sien Lam.
Azli will partner his brother, Azlan, and K. Logan Raj in the midfield.
The players realise that they have to put up a better showing than they did against Maybank. We had the lead in that match and we blew it with some below par performance, said Arulselvaraj.
We beat Tenaga in the first round. But they will not make it easy for us even though they are too far down to challenge for the title.
Ernst and Young are tied with Sapura with 25 points but they are in second spot on an inferior goal difference. Tenaga have 17 points and are in fifth place.
Arulselvaraj added that they could have their other Indian import, Lazarus Barla, to take a direct hit from penalty corners.
Tenaga coach K. Rajan said that they would continue to play as hard even though the league title was virtually out of ther reach now.
I want the players to enjoy the game and improve on their play. There has been a lot of improvement, including the fitness level of the players.
They must continue to improve and look to at least retaining the overall title, he said.
Tenaga won the double last year with Rajan in charge.
