JUST like at Wimbledon two months ago, Marat Safin exited at the earliest stage of the US Open in bowing meekly to Thomas Enqvist 7-6 (7-5), 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 on Tuesday.
Safin grabbed his racquet with both hands, leaned forward, and cracked it to the court three times, as if chopping wood with an axe.
