Keng Liat fails to qualify for 100m backstroke final


SWIMMER Alex Lim Keng Liat failed in his bid to become the first ever Malaysian to qualify for the final of an Olympic swimming event when he trailed in last in the first semi-finals of the 100m backstroke event at the Aquatics Centre here yesterday. 

Keng Liat, who had predicted earlier that he would smash his national record of 54.77, clocked a poor 56.08 to finish last in his heat and overall in the semi-finals. Current world champion Aaron Peirsol of the US won the heat in 54.62. سnly the top eight make it into the final.
