KUALA LUMPUR: Bukit Jalil Sports Schools (BJSS) Chong Wei Feng ended Johors Mohd Redza Hassans unbeaten run in the boys Under-18 singles badminton competition to seal a place in the Grand Finals of the 100Plus Power National Junior Circuit at the Selangor BA Hall here yesterday.
Wei Feng blew away South Zone Under-18 singles champion Redza yesterday, winning 15-4, 15-5 to emerge as the Group A champion in the second stage of the junior circuit.
The top two players from each of the four groups advanced to the Finals scheduled for Aug 14-21 and Redza also made the cut.
The other six players who have qualified are North Zone champion Lee Hock Lai of Penang, who topped Group D, Liew Daren (BJSS), Beryno Wong (Sab), Chong Li Qun (BJSS), Chang Hun Pin (Pen) and Loo Yik Xiang (BJSS).
In the boys Under-18 doubles, Penangs Hun Pin-Yeo Boon Chong, the North Zone champions, secured their place in the Finals as Group D winners ahead of Selangors Lee Jian Jong-Shahrizan Sidek.
Joining them in the Finals are Tan Boon Heong-Hoon Thien How (BJSS), Mah Jun Loong-Wong Tjung Yeung (Pen), Chin Tze Seong-Goh Yin Jin (BJSS), Toh Chin Sheng-Cheng You Sheng (Ter), Lee Hock Lai-Tung Ewe Lee (Pen) and Liew Daren-Chong Li Qun (BJSS).
The top two players from the other three age-group competitions for boys and girls Under-12, Under-14, and Under-16 will also compete in the Finals.
