PETALING JAYA: Bukit Jalil Sports School’s Tan Boon Heong-Hoon Thien How, the quarter-finalists at the Asian Junior Championships, stayed on course for the boys’ Under-18 doubles title after cruising to their first win in the Stage Two 100Plus Power National Junior Badminton Circuit at the Selangor BA Hall yesterday.
Boon Heong-Thien How proved too strong for Penang’s Mah Jun Loong-Wong Tjung Yeung, winning 15-7, 15-3 in the first round to clinch a place in the quarter-finals.
Two other pairs from BJSS also cleared their first round hurdles.
Chin Tze Seong-Goh Yin Jin defeated Kedah’s Lim Kee Shen-Fong Soo Seng 15-4, 15-2 while Liew Daren-Chong Li Qun eliminated Sarawak’s Huong Yeu Leung-Tian Chin Luk 15-11, 15-6.
Johor’s Mohd Redza Hassan-Tan Chee Ping, the South Zone’s Under-18 champions, also cleared the first round with a 15-13, 15-3 win over Kuala Lumpur’s Chong Kien Leng-Leong Wei Chuan.
