MADRID: English fans upset over their national team's penalty kick loss to Portugal in the European Championship quarter-finals may get a chance to vent their frustration on the very ball that was the focus of their angst.

Canadian-based Internet casino Golden Palace.com has purchased the ball David Beckham kicked high into the crowd in the 6-5 penalty shootout loss, and plans to rent a stadium in England to give fans an opportunity attempt their own penalty at £10 a boot – all for charity.

“We're just waiting to go and collect the ball in Spain. We're going to find a soccer stadium in the UK to let people kick the ball, maybe even against the Portuguese goalkeeper, for charity,'' Golden Palace spokesman Drew Black said.

The casino purchased the ball through the Spanish Internet auction site “ebay.com'' for 28,050 euros (US$34,382). – AP
